There has been a group in China recently who went on broadcast programmes and did their introduction in Korean. And they also performed WonderGirls‘ ‘Nobody’ on the show.
After Cambodia’s WonderGirls, we are set to see China’s version of WonderGirls. This group ‘Sisters’ has been introduced on Asian entertainment community site ‘Asianfanatic‘ on 24th May as the China’s WonderGirls.
The post on the site goes, “Even though it is no more than 2 years into WonderGirls‘ debut, we are seeing the birth of the 2nd WonderGirls.” This group is said to be scouted by JYP China and has been named ‘Sisters’. The group consists of 1 Korean and 4 Chinese – Shin Hye Ji (Sarah/15), Chung En Jiao (19), Hwang Yi Pei (19), Fei Fei (19) and Mong Jia (19).
New came last October when JYP announced, “We are preparing for China’s version of WonderGirls. Please look forward to this female group who will be the next trendsetters.”
And back then JYP has been training some of the trainees under him for the debut of this new female group, and finally the veil has been lifted.
But the group ‘Sisters’ has not officially debuted. They were introduced during 2AM’s promotion of their recent album ‘Time For Confession’ in China and were revealed during one of the broadcast programmes. The girls performed WonderGirls ‘Nobody (Rainstone Remix)’ and also Park Jin Young’s ‘Honey’.
Netizens say:
- “They can’t sing. Almost insignificant”
- “They look like girls from the red light districts”
- “It’s good to see that these girls are working hard on their Korean. But they are going to debut in China right? I see that there is a general bias against Chinese of the Koreans.”
- “This makes me think again, ‘What are you thinking JYP?’.”
- “Hhhok, now I know why they changed 2NE1’s name”
- “If they can make it big in China, I should make a trip to China too.”
I thought the girls’ vocals are strong enough.. And I see so much bias from Koreans.
