SM-TVXQ Contract w/r/t/ Income Distribution
The Court has granted the injunction filed by the members of TVXQ against SM Entertainment.The Court found that the Contract between SM and the Members was unconscionable and against public policy. Following this victory, the Members are proceeding with the main suit to ask for the rightful shares of all income generated from their activities.
The following is a summary of the outrageous terms of the Contract that relates to the distribution of income. The clear conclusion is that the TVXQ members have received next to nothing for their six years of work, and that virtually all money we spend to buy SM products stay with SM. Please read the below to see the extent of the injustice.
Please keep in mind that SM's contract with TVXQ has been amended five times and therefore the applicable terms have varied over time. Accounting for all the resulting complexities, the truth adds up to the following:

I. TVXQ has received $0 for their album sales prior to July 2008, and only a negligible amount after that date.
Prior to the fifth and final round of amendments on July 1, 2008, the Contract read that for any album or single with sales not exceeding 500,000 copies, SM would be entitled to 100% of the profits, leaving the members with nothing. From the time of TVXQ's debut in late 2003 and until TVXQ's release of their 4th Korean album "Mirotic" in September 2008, no Korean album had sold more than 500,000 copies. Therefore, prior to July 2008 TVXQ has had absolutely zero income from their album sales.
On July 1,2008, SM amended the Contract to give each Member 1% of total sales for each album that sells over 200,000 copies. For any albums that sell fewer copies, the members are to receive 0.6% to 0%. SM has not honored even these outrageous terms, as it has not paid TVXQ a single cent since February 2009.
In sum, SM has kept 100% of all sales that TVXQ has generated with the sales of their albums and singles prior to July 2008, and has kept 95% or more of the sales after that date.

II. TVXQ has received $0 for the sales of concert DVDs and albums featuring recordings from such concerts.
Under the Contract, the Members are not entitled to receive any share of the profits generated from sales of concert DVDs and "live" albums.

III. TVXQ has received $0 for their appearances on TV programs.
Under the Contract, Members are not entitled to receive any share of the profits made through their TV appearances if the appearance is of a temporary nature. As all programs on which TVXQ appeared have featured the Members as "guests"and therefore by nature have been temporary, SM has kept all profits that TVXQ has generated from these TV appearances.

IV. For all other possible sources of revenue, SM subtracts from the total revenue all expenses, including salaries of other staff, stage preparation expenses, rent, travel expenses, food expenses, and the like, then gives TVXQ only a fraction of the remaining amount.
As for all other sources of income, the Contract states that TVXQ is entitled to varying percentages of the "net income." The Contract defines "net income" to be the amount remaining after the applicable "operating costs". The "operating costs" are defined to include such expenses that are traditionally expected to be covered by the employer, including but not limited to 1) salaries of the staff (manager, clothing coordinators, makeup artists, dance crew, and the like), 2) performing stage preparation costs, 3) living expenses, including rent and water/electricity bills, 4) travel expenses, including plane ticket costs, 5) meal expenses, and the like.
Even after all these "operating costs" are deducted from the net income, the Members are only entitled to a small percentage of the remainder while SM keeps the rest.

JYP to keep contract with JaeBum, “Time is the problem”
JYP Entertainment will maintain and keep its contract with 2PM member JaeBum, who has left the group recently and is currently staying in the States.
The contract period for JaeBum is 7 years. Currently, it has been over a year after his debut, and there are still 5 years left on the contract. So what remains now is when he will return to Korea to resume his activities, and what many calls “the problem of time”.
JYP will be holding an audition in Seattle coming 7th November, and through one of the officials from the company, JaeBUm has also been scouted during the audition by JYP in 2004.
It is still not decided if Park JinYoung will be present at the audition in Seattle. An official said, “Because of JaeBum, there has been much concern about the audition this round.”
JYP Entertainment has also been very careful when asked if JaeBum will return to Korea and resumes activities sooner. But what we know is JaeBum’s contract with JYP will remain.
An entertainment industry expert said, “Because his contract with JYP will be kept, it is high chance that he can return and resumes activities naturally, but time is the key here.”

TVXQ will Resume Activities in Japan
After the last October 27th Court decision of terminating some effects of exclusive contract, the five members of TVXQ will be back to Japan and resume their activities there.On the 29th (today) Daily Sports Japan met TVXQ’s official from their signed Japanese label AVEX, and as quoted from the official, TVXQ members should be back to Japan to continue their full activities this fall.
The official did not mention a specific schedule, however he said that the year-end events such as “The 51st TBS Japan Record Award” (organized by Japan Composers Association) and especially “The 60th NHK Uta Gassen” are included in the current schedule.
According to Sankei Sports on the 29th, the popular group Tohoshinki will also participate in theme song for NHK new drama “とめはねっ!铃里高校书道部” that is starting on January 7th next year, the song is entitled “BREAK OUT!”
NHK side commented, “We’re gathering image as Tohoshinki is one of the most popular group in Japan right now.” . While TVXQ leader U-Know Yunho said about their new song, “We hope through this song, we can give even just a little cheering hope for the youngsters.”

2PM new album release date on Cyworld taken down; Underground moves on with their 2nd boycott exercise
Following the chain of speculations and discussions after the date 10th November was stated as PM’s comeback new album release date on Cyworld on 28th October, the release date for the album was taken down from Cyworld on 30th October.And on 28th October, fan union Underground handed over 6192 passbooks with 11,000 KRW in each to JYP headquarters in ChungDamDong, asking to return JaeBum to the group with the money the fans will be using to buy 2PM’s upcoming album.
The album release date and also new song preview release date on Cyworld and Melon respectively was posted up 2 days back.
But on 29th and 30th October, the dates were taken down from the sites.
And at the same time, on 28th October, 2PM fan union Underground return 6192 passbooks with 11,ooo KRW deposited in each one to JYP Entertainment. In each passbook is written, “We wish to use the money meant to buy 2PM’s new album for JaeBum to return” and “I ♡ 재범” at the back of the passbook.
UnderGround members revealed that this is one of their boycott measures to demand for JaeBum to return to 2PM.

American weekly magazine ‘Time’ wrote an article introducing Korean idol group Big Bang. The article was posted up on Time Magazine’s website on 29th October. In the article, Big Bang was introduced as one of the most promising singer groups in Korea and their journey to advancing into the Japanese music market.

Cheondung, Mir, Seungho, G.O, Lee JoonWith their intense charisma, new group MBLAQ are capturing the stage. What are the five guys like in real life?
As I give them a pen and paper and ask them to write about the other four members’ real personality, laughter bursts out here and there – “Hehehe”.

Seungho, “All-round man” but “dark circles”…
Seungho gets called “Docile daddy” by the others members. He is good at fixing machines, and can fix any problem related to electricity, so he is called the “All-round man”. When a problem arises, he immediately rises up as spokesman and doesn’t hesitate as an “honourable man”. He really seems like a typical gruff blood-type B guy, but when the conversation starts he can turn into a “chatty guy”. Also, his nerves can get sharpened [= gets annoyed easily] when he can’t eat at the right times. He is really alike to his mentor Rain.
However, he also has abundant sensitivity. His piano playing skills are also at a high level. He can also perform card tricks. But Mir is slightly worried about Seungho’s dark circles. “I hope they don’t get any bigger…”
G.O, “Hair-glass”? In reality is a “spotless guy”
He is the deputy of the group. His nickname “Hair-glass” comes from a combination of his beard (털[teol]=hair) and his trademark sunglasses. Despite his serious appearance, he is a skillful talker. His outer appearance is very manly but his insides are more sensitive than most and he is very considerate of others. He has experience of cooking for himself so his cooking skills are quite good. Lee Joon, the truth about “Fourth dimension” and “Dirty guy”?
On stage, he is the member who most resembles Rain. However, he is MBLAQ’s official “fourth dimension” [= somewhat eccentric]. From head to toe. Sometimes he comes out with absurd comments like “In the depths of the water there live giant squid the size of the 63 Building”.
Further, the members have picked him as the “person who washes the least”. It is the opposite of his clean image.

But his body is top grade. But he is addicted to exercising. His hobby is exercising in the early morning.
Cheondung, “Sweet guy” but “terrible” at gags
Out of MBLAQ, he is the unique “good-looking young guy”. His nickname is “DoongDoong”, from his name. He is very nice and beautiful, but has a bit of “Prince Syndrome” [=aloof, up himself, i.e. thinks he is a prince]. He wears unbearably cute pyjamas at their house. He is also the odd one out in everything.
The most serious problem is his gag skills. His humour is really no good.

Mir, “Atmosphere maker” but also “mischief maker”
The team’s youngest is the “atmosphere maker”. He occasionally hears that he looks like FT Island’s Lee Hongki. He also has the nickname “Chucky” that Cheondung made up for him. The reason is because they look alike. His gag skills are excellent but he can also be the “mischief maker”. In the team, he and Lee Joon are the unmatched masters of not washing.

4Minute HyunA has revealed her dream to be a fashion designer. On KBS Drama Super Junior’s ‘Miracle’ aired on 31st October, 4Minute appeared on the show as hope messengers.
When they were talking on the topic of dream on the show, HyunA said, “I dream to be a designer. Because I have much interests in fashion, I want to be a designer in the future.” Lee Teuk then asked, “Which Super Junior member do you want to make clothes for?”
HyunA replied, “I want to personally make clothes for ShinDong.”
Also member GaYoon said, “When I was young, my dream was to be a singer”, youngest member SoHyun said, “I want to live in a spacious 2-level house and live life as a farmer.” and HyunA said, “And then rear sheeps and ostrich on the farm.”

Teenage girl idol IU is making a comeback with her new "doll" concept!
On November 12th, IU will be releasing her second mini album. For the past 4 months, she has been promoting her "Growing Up" album on various music shows.

Jo Kwon Close To Recovery
We recently reported that 2AM's Jo Kwon was diagnosed with swine flu. Due to the flu, he had to cancel his filming for MBC's We Got Married.Well don't worry anymore!
A representative stated, "After being treated in the hospital, Jo Kwon's condition has significantly improved, close to a full recovery. It is highly possible that he will be decided to be fully recovered today. At the latest will be early next week."
Fortunately, the rest of 2AM's members has no signs of infections of the flu.

SNSD Korea-Vietnam Friendship Festival
On October 18th, SNSD / Girls' Generation were in Hanoi, Vietnam at the National Conventional Center as they participated in the Korea-Vietnam Friendship Festival hosted by Arirang TV. They were mobbed everywhere they went and some fans were even daring enough to go on stage and give the members a hug.
Almost two weeks later, performances for this event finally aired on Arirang TV. The three songs performed were Genie (Tell Me Your Wish), Gee, and Michael Jackson's Heal The World. Unfortunately, the stage seemed to have some microphone problems but they still put on a good show nonetheless, check them out below:

BoA’s “White Wishes” PV
We reported back in September that BoA was going to sing for a Japanese RPG game, Tales of Grace and then heard the actual single, White Wishes not long ago.
With the actual song sounding very good already since it's the theme song for a Japanese RPG, that effect was made even better with the release of the PV recently. The MV might look minimalistic and simplistic at first glance but somehow or rather, you get a rather good feeling after watching it. BoA looks really beautiful and mature in this MV too.

[NEWS] 091029 Avex Confirmed! All 5 TVXQ Members Soon Fly to Japan Together for The End of The Year Program!
All five member of TVXQ will be coming to Japan together in the near future
to prepare to perform for the various end of the year programs in Japan.
After the favorable results of the Seoul central government officials annoucement
over the TVXQ's contract issue, Avex had announced TVXQ's activities in Japan starting this fall.
Avex has not yet revealed the entire schedule of TVXQ's activities in Japan
toward the end of the year 2009, however.....
Avex did confirm, that Avex is trying to schedule TVXQ's attendance
at the Kohaku Utagassen and also at the Record Taisho!!!
Avex also confirmed all five members coming together to Japan in the near future.

[NEWS] 091029 TVXQ's New Song in Japan!
New Song's Title: "BREAK OUT!!"
It is revealed on October 28th, 2009, that TVXQ will take charge of the main theme song of "Break Out!"
which will be used at NHK's New Drama Series, "Tomehane! Suzusato High School, Calligraphy Club".
(The Drama will start to air on January 7th, 2010; 8 PM on Thursdays.)
It is the first time for TVXQ to sing the theme song in Japanese production work of NHK.
They sang "Thousand Year Love Song: Sennen Koi Uta", (which was released in the Single "Beautiful You"),
the theme song of the historical Korean Drama, "The Legend", broad casted at NHK (2007-2008).
NHK chose TVXQ because they are:
"The group which has the most power right now (by NHK).
TVXQ participated last year's "Kohaku Utagassen, (Red and White New Year's Music Special by NHK);
they also performed two nights in Tokyo Dome very successfully."
The song will be a light pop music.
It is connected to the story line of the drama, which displays the love story
and the competition of the small calligraphy club at the High school.

That kind of message is included in this theme song.
TVXQ's leader Yunho (23) said,

I'm sure you guys were trying to find some way to get to G-Dragon's "Shine A Light" concert after watching the commercial. But unfortunately, you probably can't.
As soon as the first round of tickets went on sale, they were gone! In 10 minutes, fans had already reserved 12,000 seats at the Seoul Olympic Stadium. Approximately 10,000 fans fought for tickets and 1 out of 10 were lucky enough to get them for this highly anticipated concert.
But you still have a chance as the second round of ticket sales will open on the 30th. Which will most likely be just as challenging as the first round.
YG Entertainment stated:
"We tried to give more fans a chance to come this time. We had more seats available than the Big Bang concerts but it still sold out immediately."
This will be an epic concert as G-Dragon will perform songs from his album that were never performed before and I'm sure his fellow YG family members will come and support him on stage.

Wonder Girls are on a roll these days. They're back in their motherland after making it on to the Billboard Top 100 charts in America and they also recently snagged an endorsement for Cafe Mori with MBLAQ's Thunder.
On today's episode of Night TV Entertainment, the girls revealed their strategies in America, which member is the most popular in America (that answer seems to change each time), and the differences between Korean and American fans.
Mimi talked about how it was hard since no one knew who they were. However, she said they reached out towards the fans and even taught them their Nobody dance. f(x) for first single ‘Chu~♡’ on 9th November
Girlgroup f(x) will be releasing their first single ‘츄~♡(Chu~♡)’ next month, taking the Kpop by storm again.
Previously in September, the group debuted with their digital single ‘LA chA TA’, showing each members’ talents and charms, and becoming the topic amongst netizens and music fans.
They also attracted many CF offers, and did various photoshoots for magazines and fashion show, and many are seeing them as upcoming Asia’s hot icon.
And this will be the first single album that f(x) will be releasing, and will showcase a different side of f(x) memebers’ charms and capabilities. The single and its title song ‘Chu~♡’ will be revealed through various online music sites on 4th November.

BEAST to perform 2PM ‘Again & Again’ on Mnet M!Countdown tonight
Group BEAST will be performing 2PM’s ‘Again & Again’ on 29th October on Mnet M!Countdown for ‘Heroes’ stage.
This will be the first time that the song ‘Again & Again’ is played/performed on music shows after JaeBum left the group and returned to the States.
And what is special for this performance is BEAST’s friendship with 2PM. BEAST’s leader Yoon DooJoon is known to be good friends with the 2PM members as he was also part of the show Mnet Hot Blood before 2PM debuted.
And also BEAST member Lee GiGwang also used to be JYP trainee, training together with the 2PM members.
To fans BEAST and 2PM are like brother groups. BEAST’s company Cube Entertainment’s representative has also used to be JYP Entertainment’s representative.

SNSD Yuri and Big Bang SeungRi to enter same college next year
So Nyeo Shi Dae Yuri and Big Bang SeungRi will be entering Central University together and will be both studying theatrics and movies course.
According to Central University on 29th October, both Yuri and SeungRi hve passed the examination to enroll for theatrics and movie course to the school.
It was also revealed that the 2 have passed the examination with competition of 23:1. They will be entering as freshmen next year in 2010.
Big Bang SeungRi has previously withdrew from high school awhile after Big Bang debuted, and for Yuri, she also gave up on her entrance examination in 2007. But now both of them were accepted as special applications to the show.

The Busan Association for the Disabled revealed on the 28th that “Super Junior Happy, 2PM, SHINee and others are going to open for the 1st annual Korea ‘Hope Concert’ held on November 14th in Busan Asiad Stadium.
At the concert, these 3 teams are each going to perform 6 songs, kind of like a semi concert style. This is bringing about a lot of attention from fans.
Stareast, in charge of the ticketing and promotion, has stated, “Because the sponsors want a safe and organized concert, we created a special fan club seating area,” they went on to add “The promotion for ticketing is going on in the Stareast entertainment homepage, and we are getting a lot of attention from fans at this time.”

In relation to Court approving partially of 3 TVXQ members’ lawsuit to terminate exclusive contract effect, SM Entertainment released their official press release today.“SM Entertainment will give explanation of official stand related to provisional disposition application result in which 3 TVXQ members submitted. We don’t recognize all Courts decisions to be unacceptable, but there are some points in the results that we’re planning to make an immediate appeal.”
SM continued, “Also before the provisional disposition result coming out, according to Court’s request, we have to refrain from giving press release to prevent anymore confrontation. Therefore we can’t reveal the exact stand of ours as well. We will give further official info sooner or later.”

2AM Jo Kwon down with swine flu!
Male group 2AM member Jo Kwon (20) has been confirmed a swine flu case on 28th October.It was revealed that Jo Kwon has developed high fever over last weekend and developed flu symptoms. He was then sent to the hospital where he was given body examination and also swine flu test. The swine flu test results shows positive, and Jo Kwon is now quarantined away from the rest of his group mates.
Also because of flu and high fever, he did not participate in 2AM’s schedule last weekend, and is currently resting.
He will be the next Kpop singer after SS501 Kim Hyun Joong and K Will to be down with swine flu.

JYP previews Rain’s Hollywood movie ‘Ninja Assassin’ with 2PM and 2AM
Producer cum singer Park Jin Young (37) has not save any compliments for his student Rain (27) for his Hollywood movie ‘Ninja Assassin’. It was revealed that Rain has a private premiere for his movie previously on 19th October in Seoul KangNam. Park Jin Young who have watched the movie said, “It’s really cool. Because of some of the scenes which look so real and lively, it is a good movie.”
It was also revealed that JYP boybands 2AM and 2PM were present at the premiere. Seeing his juniors suddenly turning up at the premiere, Rain become a little nervous for a while.
A staff said, “Rain was a little nervous this is the first time he is watching the complete full version of the movie himself. But the atmosphere at the premiere was good due to the presence of his teacher and juniors.”

Boom Academy will be passed down to SuJu members
Boom may have joined the army for his mandatory military service, but his legacy will live on as Kang Shim Jang's famous Boom Academy will continue.Boom Academy is a sort of an entertainment school within Kang Shim Jang which Boom had set up along with Leeteuk and Eunhyuk from Super Junior. Those three would put on a comical show together every week during the show.
The academy could have been closed down due to Boom's departure, but the producer of Kang Shim Jang revealed that Leeteuk and Eunhyuk will continue the academy through putting on comical shows each week. A new member will be picked through an audition he said, and the rivarly between Boom Academy and Bracademy consisting of Fly to the Sky's Brian and 2AM's Jokwon will continue as well.
The producer added, "Boom even had a meeting with Leeteuk and Eunhyuk before departing, giving them ideas of how to continue on. Leeteuk was given the responsibility of keeping the academy open." Kang Shim Jang still has two weeks worth of recorded material left over, which means that we will get to see Boom Academy with founder, Boom still in it for another fortnight.

[INFO] 091027 Summarization of the Courts' Ruling on TVXQ-SME Trial
1. Seoul District Court is so far favoring JaeChunSu side. They partially accepted the exclusive contract suspension the trio have been submitted. The partially accepted here so far only mentioned about the three members now can have their right to decide whether they will take one job or not. So the three members are now like 3rd parties to SM. Said that with this decision, TVXQ activities as five members will lay on three members‘ decisions, and not SM Entertainment.
2. With the point that TVXQ activities as group can still be continued, thus Court couldn’t terminate the clause about income distribution (which I’m a bit blurred here~however not in any line there’s a say that Court already deals with the unfair distribution income nor the length of contract).
3. SM is NOT YET saying anything about accepting or refusing this decision. They still said in their press release today, “About our exact official stand, we will inform it soon.”
4. The three members also have not fully agreed with the current decision. However, they’re now preparing to settle matter with SM regarding the existing payment settlement to prevent another unfair payment in the future, as well as the fact that they haven’t received any payment from SM since February this year, and another remaining issues about income distribution.
5. If both parties finally agreed with this, it’s much probable that JaeChunSu will stay at SM, yet with more independent decision rights, and — if the negotiations about income distribution runs smooth — also with more fair income distribution.
6. This is NOT final decision. As SM hasn’t said anything and the main point of this case, the income distribution is not yet solved.

Leeteuk planned an arranged marriage between him and Yoona?
SNSD's Yoona revealed a rather oddly romantic history between her and Super Junior's Leeteuk.On today's episode of Strong Heart (Kang Shim Kang), while talking about the love chemistry between Lee Seung Gi and Yoona, Yoona reavealed that one of the male guests on the show has told her to get married to him before.
When people became very shocked, she said, "He's been asking me. Whenever he sees me he says, 'You have to get married to oppa.' He says this on the phone and in person!" Then, quick eyed Brian said confidently, "Look, it's Leeteuk! I was watching him. While everyone was looking around trying to figure out who it was, he was sitting there laughing to himself," and proceeded to do a hilarious imitation of Leeteuk's cackle.
Since Yoona and Leeteuk's trainee days at SM Entertainment, Leeteuk had always told Yoona to get married to him. That's 7 years of Leeteuk wanting Yoona as his wife! On a side note, throughout the whole story, Seung Gi played along very nicely, giving off his false anger vibe causing the cast to crack up.

Clad in suits with dark-coloured pants and sporting stylish hairstyles, the seven fine gentlemen of Super Junior M ceremoniously released their first mini album
Hankyung, Siwon, Donghae, Ryeowook, Kyuhyun, Henry and Zhoumi – these members of SJ-M have won the “Most Popular Group” award on various prominent award ceremonies in China since the release of their first album <迷 (Me)> last April. Their image for this new album consists of SJ-M’s usual style with attire in the colours black, white and gray just as before, but with the addition of fashionable accessories such as framed glasses and bowler hats. VJ Andy had hardly gotten the words out before the members simultaneously pointed to Siwon. Being attacked from all sides, Siwon very innocently shook his head. VJ Andy immediately requested for Siwon to put on a cool pose, however, Siwon made a cute expression instead – one that said he was being bullied by everyone else. The leader, Hangeng, could no longer take it and promptly got up to “point out his mistakes.” While speaking, he demonstrated the classical motions of Siwon’s normal walk. Hangeng even supplemented it with, “His chest raises even more when he sees a pretty girl.” Everyone clapped and cheered. Siwon was between laughter and tears and could only ferociously say one thing, “That’s too much.”
When VJ Andy asked about who takes care of himself the best, everyone again, without consultation, pointed towards Donghae. Andy racketed his head, “I thought it was Zhou Mi. Don’t you guys say that he is the one who purchases the most cosmetics?” Henry said that Zhou Mi simply likes to buy, but not use, while Donghai uses cosmetics the most. The gentle Donghae would not let that pass either: If you can’t find me one day, everyone please come to the skin department in the hospital to find me.

SHINee conquers music charts with "Ring Ding Dong"
Korean boy band SHINee has taken off to a strong start to their comeback, conquering online and offline music charts with their new album, according to their agency on Monday.For the week of October 19, their third mini-album "2009, Year Of Us" released last Thursday, ranked at No. 1 in album sales on various music charts including Hanteo, Hottracks and Shinara Records.
"Ring Ding Dong", the title song to their album, also placed first on music website Dosirak, No. 2 on Mnet and No. 3 on Melon's Top 100 weekly charts.
"We are thrilled to receive so much love upon our comeback last week," the pop group was quoted as saying. "We will work harder to give fans greater performances."
SHINee, one of the most popular idol groups in Korea, has had several K-pop hits, most notably their debut single "Older Girl, You're So Pretty" and the recent chart topper "Juliette" earlier this year.

"Boys Over Flowers" star is the boy next door
SINGAPORE: He once lined the walkway of a church with 200 candles to surprise his girlfriend with a ring to mark 100 days since their first date. But now, Korean star Lee Min-ho may be putting such romantic gestures on hold.The reason – well, blame it on the little ironies in life – the heart-throb who is every bit as romantic as the lead character he plays in the immensely popular Korean drama "Boys Over Flowers" and pursued by thousands of women, admits that he is now single but has hardly any time for himself, let alone a date!
The 22-year-old star, who saw his popularity soar in the Korean TV drama, has such a huge following in Singapore alone that a public appearance on the island to officiate at a store's opening had to be cancelled due to crowd control issues.
More than a thousand fans showed up at the venue, causing a major human traffic jam at downtown Plaza Singapura where Lee had planned an appearance after jetting in for a whirlwind weekend to meet fans and open an outlet for Korean cosmetics brand Etude House, for which he is the brand ambassador.
Meeting the media later, it was clear that despite his overwhelming fame the good-looking actor has clearly managed to remain grounded.
Looking fresh and wearing a smile that never left his face during the session on Saturday afternoon, it was hard to guess that Lee - decked in a smart pastel-coloured shirt and vest – had stepped off a plane less than three hours earlier.
Unlike the arrogant brat he portrays in "Boys Over Flowers", Lee exudes a surprisingly innocent charm with a demeanor that is very much like your friendly boy next door.
The only exception is this boy-next-door is often the boy-at-home. "I don't go out as often as I used to... because of the attention that I get on the streets," said Lee.
Now that Lee has found fame and fortune with his big break in "Boys Over Flowers" some two years after he went into acting, he remains down-to-earth.
When asked what he most wanted to do if he were as rich as Goo Jun Pyo, the character he plays in "Boys Over Flowers", neither cars nor condo topped the list, but a different "C" word - charity.
"Earlier this year, I had to undergo an operation and was hospitalised," revealed Lee. "While I was at the hospital, I met a lot of people who were sick and had financial difficulties. So if I had the money like Jun Pyo, I would like to help those people with financial difficulties and illness... to provide them with better care."
A heartthrob who has a big heart – it looks like his legion of fans all across Asia is set to grow even more. This is especially since he has his sights set on expanding his career in acting, after a year of travelling around Asia meeting fans and lending his presence to product launches.
The lanky Lee has been the darling of commercials, endorsing products from beer to cosmetics, car accesorries, mobile phones, donuts and restaurants, for the most part of 2009.
While all that is great for his bank account, what of his acting career? "I'm on the look-out for a good production and show my fans a new side of me," said Lee.
As much as he loves portraying Goo Jun Pyo, the 22-year-old actor has marked out his new year resolution – to have a different face in acting.
"My acting career is still young, so each year, I'll like to try new and different roles to improve upon myself," said Lee.
